How your book is protected

No downloads, no copying.
2 mins read

Your book never leaves Akumo as a file. Students read it in their browser, and there is no version they could forward, upload or print.

What students can do

A student who has bought your book can open it in any browser, on as many devices as they like, and read it for as long as they have their account. There is no limit and no expiry-

What they cannot do

The book cannot be downloaded or saved, and copying text out of it is blocked. There is no file to share, so a book cannot travel from one student to another the way a PDF does.

How students read your book

Who can see it at all

Only the students of a class the book has been assigned to. There is no public catalogue and no search that would let anyone else find it.

The marketplace is the one exception, and it is only visible to other lecturers on Akumo, never to students. Even there, they see the cover, the description and your price, not the book itself.

Offline reading

Reading offline is not possible at the moment. We are working on a reading app that will make it available, and until then a student needs an internet connection to open your book.

iconStudents keep access to every book they have bought, even if you later remove it from a class or archive it.
