Students experience Akumo differently from you. They never browse, never search and never see a marketplace. They only see the classes they were invited to and the books in them.
Joining
A student scans your QR code, opens your link or follows the invitation email from your roster upload. If they are new to Akumo, they create their account right there with their name, email address and a password.
From then on they see your class with its banner, description and the books you assigned.
Buying a book
Students buy each book inside the class, at the class price you set. They never see your marketplace price or what you earn.
Payment goes through Paystack, with the payment methods Paystack offers in Nigeria. Purchases are final, so there are no refunds.
Students who already bought the book in another class keep it. They see it as owned in your class and do not pay again.
Reading
Books open in the browser, on as many devices as the student likes. They cannot be downloaded or saved, and copying text is blocked. An internet connection is needed, offline reading is not possible yet.
Once bought, a book stays with the student. Even if you later remove it from the class or have it archived, they keep their access.
Documents
Documents in the class are free for everyone, whether or not they bought a book. Students download them and keep them.
Asking questions
Every book in the class has a forum. Students can post questions there, and their questions appear anonymously. They cannot answer or comment, only ask. They can attach a file to a question.
Questions go to you as the lecturer of the class, including for books you took from the marketplace.
