Applying for access
Akumo is a closed platform. Everyone who publishes or teaches on Akumo goes through the same short application, so that students can trust that the person behind a book is who they say they are.
Using Akumo is free. There is no onboarding fee, no subscription and no monthly cost. We only take a share when one of your books is sold.
What we ask for
- Your title, first and last name
- Your email address
- Your institution, if it is already registered on Akumo. This is optional
- Your website, if you have one. For lecturers this is usually your university profile page
- An ID document that confirms who you are. PDF, PNG, JPEG or WEBP, up to 20 MB

The website is not required, but it helps us verify you faster.
What happens next
We check your application and get in touch with you before we activate your account. In that conversation we agree your terms, including the share that applies to your sales.
This usually takes up to two working days. You will hear from us by email.
Once your account is active
Once we activate your account, you receive an email with a link to complete your profile. There you set your password and add your bank details, so that Paystack can pay your share directly into your account.
After that you can add your first book and create your first class. Nothing you prepare is visible to students until you invite them.
